Humans flourish with greater economic freedom. At least that’s what history shows us. Why is economic freedom decreasing? Do people really want tyranny? Do they not understand the harm they are supporting?
If you don’t fully comprehend the value of economic freedom, think about the United States. How did our nation, which only has 333 million people out of the total world population of eight billion, become such an economic powerhouse? Are Americans harder working than the rest of the world? Are we more intelligent? Better educated?
The USA has certainly had some good fortune. A good geographical location and a well educated population. We stood by doing little while the rest of the world destroyed itself in World War II, that certainly was the trigger event that knocked England out of it’s position of world domination and allowed the USA to become the dominant power. We’ve had it pretty nice for the past eighty years. We should give some serious thought to why that is coming to an end now.
Worldwide global economic freedom has sunk to a 23 year low. A rating now at only 58.6 (out of 100). The USA has reached a thirty year low of 70.1 (out of 100). The ratings have only been done for the past thirty years. This loss of freedom is serious.
Do you feel free when you struggle to pay for food and rent? I’m sure you don’t! I’m currently buying a new home. At this point in my life, with a good career and good investments, this should be a “cakewalk”. On paper buying a home, as I am, should be effortless and not a financial strain. The deeper I get into it the more I resent the process and the more worried I get as to whether I can pull this off financially without making excessive sacrifices.
Here in the USA we perhaps should be happy that we are still in 25th place. At least we aren’t in 169th place like Iran with a rating of 41.2!
Why is the USA sinking? Excessive government spending is considered to be the major factor.
How do we stop the government from spending more? It seems everyone has their hand out wanting the government to help them. Don’t we realize that if the government “helps” everyone that actually hurts everyone?
I’m not interested in more promises from politicians. I’d like to see concrete actions. How many of you have take the time to talk to politicians? How many of you have taken the time to go out and protest (peacefully!)? How many of you are attempting to vote for politicians that will help the nation (and your state) go in the right direction instead of continuing forward in a suicidal rush over the financial disaster cliff?
Well I don’t have trust that any politician will fix any of this so I’m not voting. And I find it totally strange to participate in a protest, peaceful or otherwise, since I’m still flabbergasted that you need a permit to protest in this country.
I think it’s gonna get worse before it gets better, John. I’ve been through this ride before, although on a much smaller scale. It’s pretty bumpy. Strap in!
