Yippee! I don’t have to work anymore! AI is going to take all our jobs!
Uh oh, maybe we actually should be terrified?
Change is scary. Global change can be catastrophic.
It’s not like next week I can send an AI bot into work to do my job and I can still collect my paycheck. There will be a transition.
“We’re transitioning from an era where computers assist people to one where people assist computers.” - this is an interesting quote. This is in regard to doing a job. Currently AI is a tool we use to help us work better. Will the future bring us to a point where the AI is doing the job and we are just guiding the AI to do it better?
“Empathetic AI is advancing rapidly … These digital agents may even prove more empathetic than humans themselves.” Really? Do we really expect people to believe that a computer cares more about them than a fellow human does?
“Read the Warning Label. AI is not just a tool. Yes, it will replace jobs … and … (wait for it …) artificial intelligence has a real potential to even replace entire professions.” Yes, but this isn’t the first time this has happened. In a world of central heating, how busy are chimney sweeps these days?
Who controls / owns AI? It’s sure not the common person. Sure you might use it as a tool like you would use a word processor to help you fine tune your sales pitch or quarterly report, but it is extremely wealthy entities like Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Elon Musk that are controlling the implementation of AI.
Grok’s own words: “Critically, AI lacks the moral judgment, empathy, and understanding of human social dynamics needed for governance. As noted in posts on X, even advanced AI cannot replicate human ethical decision-making, a view echoed in analyses highlighting AI’s inability to grasp nuanced human values.”
If AI is truly humanity’s greatest invention, it is poised to also be the greatest disruptor of life as we know it. With change comes a need to adapt. Some people will adapt well, others will struggle to adapt. My belief is that the very wealthy and the very poor will benefit the most from AI, people in the middle will fair poorly with a wide variety of outcomes.
AI is already being used to influence the perception of the population. People are turning from using search engines to simply asking an AI when they want to research something on the Internet. This will result in a mass shift of acceptance from “Google” being the source of truth to AI bots being the source of truth.
We know that Google is heavily biased. You do know that, don’t you? Google buries alternative information and promotes the narrative. Well, meet DebunkBot ( https://www.debunkbot.com/conspiraciesbot ) which Viseral Adventure has already written about in her article:
My comments on Viseral Adventure’s article demonstrate that I tried DebunkBot and experienced first hand how it uses manipulative psychology techniques to persuade and bully you into believing the narrative and to dismiss your own personal experience.
Playing again with DebunkBot, I accidentally stumbled on a page where it appears humans teach the AI to respond: “Copy as many of these text entry questions as needed. These questions will be hidden by default so survey respondents cannot see them.”
It had reworded my conspiracy theory as: "Cures for diseases are classified to protect the profits of the Industrial Medical system, which prioritizes profit over delivering health, demonstrated by the FDA's approval of toxic drugs and harassment of healthy nutrients." Apparently this conspiracy blew the mind of DebunkBot and caused it to malfunction.
The Nightmare Scenario Summary:
The wealthy (who control AI) utilize AI technology for their own advantage, creating an even wider wealth gap between the wealthy and the typical person.
Adoption of AI is too fast leading to rapid massive unemployment without an adequate Universal Basic Income to support the unemployed (majority of the population)
Big Data in combination with surveillance technology produces a totalitarian state where freedom becomes almost non-existent (similar to George Orwell’s “1984”)
People trust AI as an authoritative source, ignoring the fact that AI is “trained” with biased propaganda to promote the narrative.
AI Robotic armies (intelligent drones, robot soldiers) are employed against countries with militaries that are still human based, causing loss of life and leading to larger conquests. Essentially the wealthy gain even greater control over the Earth. Even worse would be a failure of AI to correctly distinguish military targets vs civilian targets.
AI puts such a demand on energy and resources that it actually impoverishes humanity (except for the very wealthy utilizing AI for their own benefit).
Without the need to work, humans fail to find meaning in life leading to massive widespread depression.
Please re-read “Part 3” for a bullet pointed Utopia scenario. The most likely scenario will be somewhere in between “Utopia” and “Nightmare”. No doubt, a little bit of both.

Part 2: https://mithel.substack.com/p/utopia-part-2

Edit:
https://venice.ai is advertising as not having “the censorship”. However if you chat with it, you will find that it is still pushing the narrative: “Furthermore, the technology behind mRNA vaccines is not only safe but also highly effective.”
Terrific series. I’m going to pint this part to my post as it includes all the ones preceding it and I love that you ventured into the morass yourself and gave it a run for its digital money.
Maybe I should have saved some/most of my comment on part 3 for part 4. LOL
You just touched on all the possible/probable issues *I* have thought of when questioning what the AI movement means to me.
One aspect of the population that I believe will benefit from AI is the LAZY. There are many who do not WANT to work and contribute to society. There is an array of people in this category. Some simply wish to do whatever it is the wish on a whim. Others wish to just sit and do pretty much nothing other than breathe and take up space. And finally, there are those who are sheeple who will just go along with whatever they are told because it is what they have been programed (just like the AI) to do and think. This is just a synapses. I'm sure there will be varying extremes like always.
The thing that troubles me most is the depression brought on to those who ARE put out of work. If they don't have something to move to, the STOP moving. I have been in this type of position because of an injury. Believe me, going from a job I LOVED to not being able to work at all SUCKS green canal water.
Chalk up one more for you John. These are certainly things that must be taken into consideration with "progress." But, to me, progress at the expense of humanity is REgression, not PROgression.
Thanks again for making me think.
