A justification for the American Revolution was “No Taxation Without Representation”. The colonists felt that they were not being represented in the English government.
Why is this relevant now? In my opinion, more and more people feel that the USA government is not representing them. So lets step through a few aspects of this.
Voting has come under question in the past decade. Throughout history it seems reasonable to believe that there has always been some corruption in voting. Currently though, this is being questioned on a large scale. If people feel that their vote doesn’t count, they don’t feel represented. Technology probably plays a large part in this as people used to have faith in one another to manually count votes. There is concern now that with technology, large changes in votes can be accomplished too easily and aren’t properly audited.
Elections and the government, represent the agendas of the Democratic and Republican parties not individual citizens. Big party politics have taken over. Candidates are selected based on if they will push the party agenda rather than if they would represent the people.
Mainstream media is controlled and censored. People no longer feel they are being told an accurate report of what is going on. People and small organizations who disagree with the narrative are being censored and penalized. Social media is also being controlled and censored. Maybe this is no worse than it’s always been, but it’s certainly a lot more noticeable.
Politicians isolate themselves from their constituents. Have you ever tried to contact one of your representatives? If you are lucky you will get a form letter reply which shows they clearly didn’t even read what you wrote to them.
Another factor is that the USA has grown so large that each person is a much smaller part of the whole.
Lobbies control politicians. The amount of influence each lobby group has is infinitely greater than the individual citizen.
Organizations like the “CFR” have members throughout government. Without direct lobbying they have a powerful influence on our politicians.
The Central Banks (aka Federal Reserve) are a non government entity. They are not elected and yet they have a massive influence on our economy (rates of inflation and interest rates).
Mandates, more and more Governors and Presidents are circumventing the constitution and legal procedure by issuing mandates that many people believe they must obey as if they were laws.
Agencies / bureaucracy is playing a greater and greater role in our lives. Organizations like the CDC and NIAID are dictating every day activities. These organizations are not run by elected people. Many of their leaders have been entrenched in their positions of power for an incredibly long time.
What have I missed? What else makes you feel like you are not represented by your government?

It goes beyond just not being represented - there is the issue of those in government blatantly ignoring (or finding ways to justify circumventing) the strict limits placed on government by both State Constitutions and the U.S. Constitution. When government tramples the rights that they are charged with protecting, it is inevitable that the people feel they are being betrayed by their government (because they are being betrayed by their government).
