If you use the Bible as your reference consider 1st Samuel 8. The people, as in voters, ask for a ruler which the Lord said was a rejection of Him. He then lists the costs of rejecting the Lord and placing an authority, the state, over you. If your focus is on tax rate, it is akin to the lesser of two evils argument. It is still taxation or evil.

Even more for the follower of Christ a rejection of the Lord is not a good idea. If the Lord is who He claims He is, then trust Him, not the state. If you say we have to be practical, we have to be the salt in the world, are you really saying that you are driven by your pride or lack of trust in the Lord?

If you do vote, let verse 18 sink in: “And in that day you will cry out because of your king, whom you have chosen for yourselves, but the LORD will not answer you in that day.”
