When you go to vote, bring a copy of your tax statement. Let this remind you of the staggering amount of taxes you pay!
Remember Mr. Biden’s words “you will not pay one more penny in taxes”, then look at your tax return and realize it is higher than it was before, you did pay more!
Vote based on how many bills that candidate has repealed rather than how many bills they have passed!
Ask yourself: “Is my government really too small?” “Should I vote for someone that is going to spend more?”
Remind yourself that for every one tax break in your favor, there are many, many more other people benefiting from other tax breaks. Give up your “sacred cow” and ask your neighbors to do the same thing so we can get back to minding our own business and taking care of ourselves.
When your representative brags about how proud they are of doing some trivial thing (redesigning the state flag), ask yourself: “Is this what I’m paying my representatives to do?” “Is this the role of government?” “Should I pay more taxes to accomplish this?”
If you use the Bible as your reference consider 1st Samuel 8. The people, as in voters, ask for a ruler which the Lord said was a rejection of Him. He then lists the costs of rejecting the Lord and placing an authority, the state, over you. If your focus is on tax rate, it is akin to the lesser of two evils argument. It is still taxation or evil.
Even more for the follower of Christ a rejection of the Lord is not a good idea. If the Lord is who He claims He is, then trust Him, not the state. If you say we have to be practical, we have to be the salt in the world, are you really saying that you are driven by your pride or lack of trust in the Lord?
If you do vote, let verse 18 sink in: “And in that day you will cry out because of your king, whom you have chosen for yourselves, but the LORD will not answer you in that day.”
