I am a good southern boy and I LOVE my iced tea. I used to drink it HEAVILY sweetened. But with type 1 diabetus I've gotten away from that. Now it's only slightly sweet.

I was always told that black tea was not good for you for a variety of reasons. Like you, the only issue I've ever had is the more I drink the more time I spend in the bathroom. I have a bladder the size of a peanut.

I used to have a little tea with my sugar. {grin} Now I no longer use sugar. I've grown fond of using "Monk Fruit" to sweeten tea (and other things)

I've read many medical articles touting the health benefits of black tea. From what I've studied, all forms of tea have good health benefits (if you don't add sugar).

One of the challenges of the years passing by is the urge to empty your bladder increases. Interestingly I find this to be very psychological. At home, when I have no reason to not visit the bathroom, I use it often. When I'm traveling or out, then I don't seem to have any issues.

Have you had an opportunity to taste the ONLY domestically grown black tea? It is actually grown down in Charleston, SC. It's really quite good. It's also really quite costly, at least in comparison to the name brands you're used to seeing the the grocery stores.

Interesting!

I don't buy any "inexpensive teas". The latest ones that I've been enjoying have come from "Spice Jungle". It's been a very *long* time since I've bought tea from a grocery store.

I drink a LARGE amount of iced tea; at minimum I drink a gallon a day. I don't have the funds at this stage of my life to be too picky about what tea I use to make my ice tea. I would LOVE to use the Charleston Tea but it is $18 for just shy of 2.5 ounces. It's great tea, but it's not ideal for making a gallon a day at that cost. I have been able to buy some teas from the Co-Op in town on occasion. Those are the ones I use as my 'sippin' tea.

I decided to buy some cheap tea ($2 for a box of 20 teabags) and give it a try. Perfectly enjoyable!

So comparing head to head, Aged Earl Grey Tea: cheap vs Numi Organic (actually an old box so not fresh). The Numi Organic clearly has superior flavor (and is probably healthier to drink). But is it worth the cost to go from ten cents per bag to thirty six cents per bag?

You definitely consume more tea than I do. At peak, I'm probably drinking about 60 ounces a day (half a gallon). I haven't had iced tea in "forever".
