Here are an assortment of random thoughts.
MeWe dramatically changed it’s user interface about a week ago. The changes are absolutely terrible, but likely mostly overlooked because of the noise and concern about the new “public” profile option, which MeWe seems to have mostly handled well (it is optional and does not appear to be leaking any privacy or violating user’s expectations) and seems to be benefiting the platform. I’m seeing a greater increase in new members applying to join groups. Now if only they return to a functional user interface instead of a pretty one.
Now that the Central Bank's "FedNow" money transfer system is actually implemented and available, will you use it for fast transfer of your money? Or will you continue to use the slower current system?
Personally it's not a big deal if a transfer I make takes "seconds" instead of a day or two. In other words, I have no intention of voluntarily using FedNow.
There may be nothing wrong with FedNow however it may increase the central bank’s ability to spy on people and organizations (less privacy) and potentially gives them more power (targeting shut down of transfers for people and organizations they don’t like). As usual, at first there should be nothing sinister, but beware of what may develop in the future from this. Personally I like a good bit of my banking to be decentralized.
Gold has remained unexpectedly strong this summer. Of course, my opinion about gold is that it’s a fantastic stable long term asset and not something to “invest” in. Gold is for preservation of wealth not speculation. To understand how we can use Glint as our own “gold backed” currency (instead of fiat currencies like the US dollar), I highly recommend watching at least the first ten minutes of this video:
If you still don’t believe that gold is a currency and will retain value, consider that the central banks around the world are the largest purchasers of gold, the central banks have been rapidly increasing their gold stockpiles for more than six months now (and they always have held a lot of gold).
Politics… is there a dirtier, more disgusting topic in the world? For thirty years I did a pretty good job of ignoring politics after running for US Congress but the past three years has dragged me back into paying some attention to our political environment. Note: I don’t support any one particular candidate, they all have their drawbacks and I don’t trust any of them two inches. I’ve been loving the messages that Robert Kennedy Jr. has been sharing. I don’t agree with him on everything but he seems to be the pro freedom candidate. He strongly opposes censorship and medical tyranny, which are two of the most important topics of our time.
Vivek has been saying some good things and some bad things. Shutting down “toxic government agencies” would be a really good step!
